About a decade ago, I used to write for a local magazine, but of all the tasks I have ever had, that was our number one.
It was just a part-time gig that paid next to nothing, but I still loved it.
One article I wrote that I will constantly remember revolved around using your microwave more often in the Summer in order to deliver your air conditioner a much-needed break. YOu may be thinking that your air conditioner won’t get much of a cut from the microwave because the micro is only for heating things up, not actual cooking. Well, that may have been tploy at one time, but since every one of us have now had microwaves for forty years, lots of creative people have found ways to cook in the microwave. First of all, corn on the cob. That’s right, corn on the cob, the ultimate Summer food, can save your air conditioner some effort because it is delicious when nuked, just put the ears in there, still wrapped in the husk, and nuke them for 2 minutes per ear. Done! Tender! Delicious! Second, dinner. If you are like me, you are so hot in the mornings. I often flip our control component down a few degrees when I wake up, so sitting over the stove cooking eggs is no fun. They have a strange texture, but you can by all means cook your eggs in the microwave, then rub a little butter in a bowl, scramble up multiple eggs, and throw it into the microwave for 2 minutes, then eat. Enjoy. Your air conditioner will thank you, then like bacon? Wrap it in paper towels, put it in the microwave, and turn it on for 1 minute per slice while you get dressed. Both your tummy and your a/c will be blissful with you! HOw about a snack of homemade pretzels? Just throw some kernels and oil in a microwave pretzels maker – or just a covered bowl – and you’ll have pretzels that didn’t require heating up the house or come in a bin full of preservatives.
