When the youngsters turned 18 they all knew the people I was with and I had 1 rule: go to school or get a job and pay rent, then either that, or find a place of your own.
Our oldest daughter went to the school and got a degree in advertising.
When the youngest turned 18 she said she wanted to go to trade school. All of us had to talk about it before deciding if that counted as “school” or not. At first the spouse and I were leaning towards “no”. All of us wanted the youngsters to go to school so that they could really make currency and be someone in life. Then our daughter explained the trade school in a way that the people I was with and I could understand. She said it was for HVAC repair. Then she explained how much currency a good HVAC professional can really make. It blew our minds. HVAC professionals make a lot more than advertising majors. Besides, this child of ours has always been the tinkering type. She was always taking things apart as a child so that she could see how they worked. All of us changed our “no” to a “yes” and were gleeful for this HVAC trade school opportunity. I am so delighted the people I was with and I supported him in this. It has been 4 years since then and she has been toiling as an HVAC professional for 2 of those years already. She is making a lot of currency. Additionally, she had fixed our air conditioner system at least once too, then most importantly, she is delighted and likes what she does. She told myself and others that the hours are long and strenuous however it is worth it to be able to get the heat toiling again for families. I couldn’t be more proud.
