For some reason, I have this terrible habit of zoning completely out when some people are talking to me.
And it doesn’t always have anything to do with my attention span or interest.
I just sort of fade out for some reason. Well, I can’t blame that weird phenomenon for what happened to the HVAC equipment. That was solely on me. I totally heard and understood every word the HVAC technician was saying to me. The fact is that I just didn’t really pay attention to the warning he was giving me. The HVAC technician was at my house to do some HVAC maintenance. This is pretty normal and happens twice a year as part of the HVAC service plan that we belong to. When he finished the HVAC maintenance, he made a special point of letting me know that the HVAC unit was not going to last much longer. I heard the words but the facts just went in one ear and out the other. I think some of it was wishful thinking and some of it was the fact that I just wasn’t ready to replace the HVAC unit just yet. Either way, I did not heed the HVAC professional’s warning. And I just carried on with life as though the heating and cooling equipment would run forever. Not only was the HVAC technician spot on about the HVAC unit, I didn’t even get to the mid point of the summer. The heat pump gave out on one of the hottest days we recorded that summer. That seems to be oddly appropriate somehow.
