Redoing HVAC duct after duct sealing failed

We bought a fixer-upper, which the previous owners told us needed repair for most things, but my associate and I did not need to worry about the furnace. So my associate and I did every other renovation & replace, knowing that my associate and I did not have any heating repair, just some minor heating repair & HVAC duct cleaning. My associate and I did as planned until my associate and I got to the part where my associate and I needed the heating corporation to send us one of their house services Heating, Ventilation & A/C techs for a brief consultation & inspection of the heating device. I had never wished for a heat pump or any other ductless option in the heating industry like I did when the Heating, Ventilation & A/C serviceman told us that the duct sealing on the heating technology was poorly done and, in some parts, too harmd. The previous owner had done the sealing using official duct tape, loosely holding the ducts hiding extensive harms. My associate and I needed to replace the ducts entirely. My associate and I were only lucky that my associate and I had an emergency fund that had been untouched when my associate and I did the other replaces & renovation works; otherwise, my associate and I would not have afforded the repairs & swings that needed to be done. In the middle of the heating drama, my associate and I visited the Heating, Ventilation & A/C business, where my associate and I saw smart control units, which were much more efficient than the digital control unit the home had! Our emergency budget let us splurge a little on the control unit, saving us from some future repair work. My associate and I learned the difficult way, & should my associate and I ever find ourselves buying another fixer-upper, I am not taking anyone’s word that everything is okay & operational. I will add everything to the budget. I would rather my associate and I have extra money to work with afterward.
