A few weeks ago, I started smelling the worst smell all throughout my house.
I will admit, it had been a little while since I had done the laundry, so I had assumed it was the funk of last week’s clothes that was causing the problem.
However, even after washing my clothes, that smell remained. My next thought was that it was dirty drains, but I cleaned them and the smell remained. I started doing some research online about the bad smell and some places suggested that it was something with my HVAC system. I knew that it couldn’t be my HVAC system because my HVAC provider regularly service my furnace and air conditioner. That terrible smell stuck around and then my allergies started acting up. Again, I didn’t think about my HVAC system being the issue because I had seasonal allergies and it was the beginning of spring. I kept pushing it off and ignoring it until my air conditioner stopped working correctly. Maybe my HVAC system really was the problem. I called my HVAC provider and they sent out an HVAC technician right away to take a look. It didn’t take the HVAC technician very long to realize that I had rats (so gross!) nesting in the panels of my HVAC unit! I was so disgusted and could not believe what I was hearing. Rats scared the ever-loving daylights out of me! Thank goodness the HVAC technician was able to take care of the issue right away and get my air conditioner working again. I didn’t realize that panels in your HVAC unit were such popular places for rodents to next but the HVAC technician told me it was very common. So, in conclusion, make sure to check the panels of your HVAC unit for rodents! Yuck!
