Sometimes having fewer options to choose from makes it easier to come to a decision.
If your options are endless, you could always get stuck wondering if there is potentially a better opportunity around the corner every single time you try to select something.
This happened when I traveled to a large metropolitan city last year and just wanted to eat Chinese food for dinner one of the nights I was there. To my surprise, there were 12 different Chinese food restaurants within a 10 mile radius of my hotel. I spent at least an hour looking at internet reviews before I ever opened a single menu. That time wasted could have been spent eating or doing something else had I been able to make a quicker decision. It’s a situation like this that makes me wonder if it would be better to have fewer options in most situations when you have to make a sudden or serious decision. I have this problem right now trying to select an HVAC company from a long roster of various heating and cooling suppliers in my immediate area. The sheer number of these businesses is overwhelming, but I’m making my way through as many online reviews to see if it makes my decision any easier. It’s not the easiest thing finding a good HVAC system in the first place, but I never realized how hard it would be with almost endless options at my feet. Hopefully whatever company I eventually select works out for me in every possible way. I need a company that will provide me with quality service on a long term basis.
