When my sister shattered her femur, we all thought her soccer career had ended.
For years my sister had played with various injuries. This one finally required specialized medical care. Where she lives and the team plays, did not have this kind of care. My sister actually had to go to a different city and find a short term rental for her stay. Since she would be seeing specialists for days, operating on her leg and getting her in a cast, she needed short term housing. The short term housing needed to have all the amenities like a kitchen, bedroom, working appliances and plumbing. At first, I was worried that my sister would not find such a magical rental unit. After hunting around online, I found that there fully furnished rentals with 1-3 bedrooms. I got my sister a two bedroom fully furnished rental. Through her whole procedure, physical therapy and rehabilitation, I was with her every step of the way. The two of us were able to live out of that little rental comfortably. The location of the short term rental was really nice too. We were right by the beach. I could run along the water, swim in the ocean and then be back to take my sister to physical therapy. The whole process was not as awful and difficult as we initially thought. My sister was able to get her leg back in gear. She now is back on her team playing like she never had the injury before. I have to say, I do miss that short term house.
