Stilted houses have stilted Heating and Air Conditioning systems

My husbandy and I have been looking at up-to-date homes! Now that both of us are near retirement age both of us want something a little bit out of the city.

A beach house near the water would be nice too.

However, both of us are in no rush to buy. It has to be the perfect beach house for both of us. Last weekend both of us spent some time looking at houses near the bay. They are luxurious however both of us can afford it. But, in this area, both of us get the occasional hurricane so that is a concern. The fact that multiple of the houses were up on stilts reaffirmed that problem for us. I am not sure both of us want to be quite that close to the water. Still, both of us toured the listed houses and got a more expansive list of things both of us do and do not want… For example, multiple of the stilted houses didn’t have central heating and cooling. Instead, they had sizable windows with wonderful airflow plush, maybe, an a/c unit in the window. I just know they use space heating systems in Wintertide however I didn’t see any lying around. Every one of us easily want central heating and cooling. That is not optional. I don’t care how wonderful of a breeze you get, sometimes you just need cooled air. Other times you need hot air. 2 houses both of us looked at did have central heating and cooling. I felt it was weird that the compressors were on stilts too or otherwise affixed to the wall of the beach house at the 2nd story level. I know that makes sense though. After all, you would want to keep the Heating and Air Conditioning unit from flooding too.
