Stopped the breeze that was killing heating efficiency

For the last more than five years, I’ve sort of just told myself that residing in a spacious, older condo just came with drafts.

This was for sure a total cop out though, but what I was entirely doing was trying to find plausible deniability for not doing something about the heating comfort in my home, but my fiance and I fell in like with this lake house almost the instant both of us walked in the door.

This was the locale both of us wanted and were prepared to do the renovations that were left to do. The previous owner had sort of started updating the old lake house but wasn’t able to finish before he simply had to sell the house. This ended up being great for us as both of us were able to negotiate the price since we’d be doing stuff like replacing the commercial Heating, Ventilation, and A/C. But the former owner of the lake house did have all the windows updated with double paned, energy efficient, modern windows. That was a plus for sure. However, it turns out that replacing those windows was also the root cause of our heating problem. All of us had the latest in residential Heating, Ventilation, and A/C installed shortly after both of us got the keys. And that came with a very great gas furnace, but yet, no matter how great the gas furnace is, it was a losing battle against a condo that had a big problem. Turns out that many of those windows were not respectfully installed and had no insulation. I found this out when I finally decided to do some Wintertide prep on the lake house last fall. Once I had those windows redone, both of us have loved a cozy Wintertide with less demand on the gas furnace.
