The AC business in town was hiring

I quit my job in the city and moved back home.

This is the story of many millennials who opted to change their lives when the pandemic hit.

I’m a trained HVAC expert, but I opted to follow a different path. After HVAC school, I also went to college to study business and chose to go for a corporate job. The dream had been to set up my own HVAC business, but being young sometimes is a double-edged sword. In 2020, I found myself stuck in a dead-end corporate job, so after speaking with my parents, I quit and moved back in with them. My dad is an HVAC expert, too, so I began going to work with him during this trying time since he was swamped with work. Despite the high-risk conditions, people still needed vital HVAC maintenance. But, we had to take many precautions to protect ourselves and our customers. Eventually, we had HVAC protocols in place, and we did well. I love my dad, but I knew I couldn’t work for him forever. I prefer doing my own thing, so after tasting the HVAC industry, I knew I wanted to work in it. Mom came home one afternoon with the news that the AC business in town was hiring, and I jumped at the opportunity. This was the best move ever since I now love my job, and I see a better future with high growth potential. Living with my parents at 30 wasn’t that easy, and at times I felt like I failed big time. But, moving from the dead-end corporate job to the HVAC industry was worth the challenging times.
