Two weeks back, I was at a flea market plus I found several old chairs, then just from the weight, I knew they were solid wood chairs.
- They were so heavy down in the legs plus arms were particularly ornate.
I couldn’t wait to get them back home, take a picture, plus see if I could find anything online about them. It didn’t take me long to discover that they are chairs from the mid to late 1730s. They looked care about they had some kind of cushions on the seats, back, plus arms. I called the local upholstery shop to ask if they did reupholstering. Two afternoons later, I was taking the chairs into the local upholstery shop. The gentleman was wordless when I brought the chairs in, then the guy said he had not seen a set of chairs care about this in a long time. He showed myself and others pics of the last time he had seen chairs care about these, which amazed me. He had a pic of them upholstered in a thick black leather with almost 3 inches of backing. I asked the guy if he could do the same thing with mine, however I wanted a floral motif. He led myself and others into the back room, plus he showed myself and others various bolts of expensive cloth that had a floral motif, however it was subtle… One of them looked care about a charming English garden, photographed with old tintype film. I fell in love with the charming English garden plus asked for an estimate; Although it cost myself and others a lot more than what I had originally planned for, I knew this upholstery was going to look so amazing on my chairs. by the time the upholstery shop was done with my chairs; I swore that they had been custom made to go with my family room.
