Furnaces and ACs have been part of our lives since the mid-1800s.
It is difficult and almost impossible to imagine how people used to survive through winter and summer without any source of furnace or AC.
The summers were steamy and the winters chilly, but it seems that people were already used to it. The heating and cooling equipment have gone through a lot of changes. The electric heat pump was introduced in the 70s. I remember my grandma owned an ancient air conditioning system that worked efficiently. In fact, the unit worked as well as a commercial air conditioning system. Grandma had the unit for almost two decades and it served her right. She always used to tell me that she owes the long lifespan of her system to the frequent heating and cooling service she scheduled on her unit. She said that the air conditioning expert would visit her premise every twice a year to handle any air conditioning repair and maintain the parts of the unit. The cooling and heating business has gone through a lot of changes over the years. Now there are even smart units that can be voice-controlled. This is inclusive of the controller. These days there are smart and digital thermostats. The local businesses are stocking mostly the new quality heating and air conditioning units. It is not just the industry that has evolved, but also the staff including the air conditioning expert and the HVAC serviceman that offer homeowners and property owners help with indoor comfort. With the advanced units, the prices have also gone up as now better and more efficient units are being manufactured. The cost of HVAC installation has also increased but some systems cost less than the cost of operation.
