Before the summer season, my wife and I decided to have a full-service check up completed on our HVAC system.
- A full-service check up on the HVAC system includes all of the mechanical and electrical parts.
The HVAC business that we use as a 50-point checklist that includes changing the air filter, cleaning the condenser drain, and checking the refrigerant levels in the air conditioner. They also clean all of the coils, check the thermostat controls, and adjust the belts on the blower motor. One of the additional items that are checked during the full service tune up is the ductwork. The ductwork often goes unchecked for years. Last time my wife and I had a service check up, the repair technician suggested it might be time to clean and sanitize the ductwork. My wife and I have a couple of dogs in the house. They frequently shed hair and track dirt all over the house. The ductwork was filled with dirt and hair from the dogs. The HVAC service provider gave my wife and I a coupon so we could have the service performed at a later date. We weren’t honestly going to have the service performed, but the coupon was a good savings and a great deal. It made sense to have the ductwork cleaned after we found out about the problems and the coupon made it more than affordable. About 10 days after the service tune up, we had the ductwork cleaned. The air inside of our home is much cleaner and smells fresher thanks to the service.
