I told them they probably needed to use just one source of heating, but they didn’t like my thoughts
I have heard of dual heating systems, but what I saw in a house, was really bizarre. Dual heating usually means that they have a heat pump system and they need an additional source of heating for when the temperatures fall below freezing. Some people consider dual heating as having an oil or gas furnace and a fireplace. The house I was in last week had a multiple heating system. I thought it meant being a dual heating system. It truly meant that there were multiple heating systems. They had a fireplace for the main floor of the house. There was an oil furnace in place for the second floor of the house and the upper floor had space heaters in every room. At first I thought they were renting the individual rooms, but I was wrong. This was a single family home and a large family was living there. They had a daughter, her husband and child living on the top floor. Their son with his wife and two kids, were on the second floor and the husband and wife had the main floor. They wanted me to tell them how they could get more efficient heating into the house. I told them they probably needed to use just one source of heating, but they didn’t like my thoughts. They told me they would look for a different HVAC company that would just give them Zone Control so the second floor oil furnace could heat the second and third floors. All they really wanted was air vents put in the floor so the heat could rise up to the third floor.
