The HVAC tech said we got everything we deserved.

I wasn’t sure if the HVAC technician was teasing us or being nasty last week.

We had a problem with our furnace three times in the last two months, and it was the same HVAC technician who was there this week.

He told us he couldn’t find any problems, but I knew he was wrong. I finally told him that my wife was getting sick, and we needed to find what was wrong with the furnace. He asked if she was pregnant? I was seventy-two, and she was seventy. Did he really think we were going to have a baby? My face must have shown him I was not amused, because he sobered. I told him I had that furnace installed a year ago, and it should still be under warranty. He called the HVAC office and asked about the warranty on the furnace. When he got off the phone, he asked if we had purchased the extended warranty. We had a one-year warranty on the furnace, and that one year ended two months earlier. It ended two days before the furnace started having problems. He told me that if we had bought the extended warranty and the maintenance agreement, we would be fully covered for all the repairs. I wasn’t offered the maintenance agreement, and I thought I had a two-year warranty. Why would I buy an extended warranty when I had a two-year warranty. He shrugged and told me we got everything we deserved. I went ballistic and called the HVAC company. I got my repairs taken care of, and I was offered a one-year maintenance agreement if I paid for the second year. I hoped he got what he deserved when he went back to the office.
