The winter brings many opportunities to witness how weather can be a real pain in the butt for the community.
I’ve seen people slip and slide over the roads and bridges and get into fender benders.
I’ve seen cars having to be dug out of snow drifts. I’ve seen driveways positively covered in snow, and I myself have had to put in hour after hour shoveling the snow off our driveway. However, even when I was a kid, I was always able to rely on the warmth and comfort of our home. I remember this fondly, especially when school was closed because of excessive snow, and I was able to stay home drinking hot cocoa and playing video games all day long. I remember how cozy and comfortable my house was back then. However, that is only because my parents were sure to maintain our furnace with the necessary repairs and upgrades throughout the years. They also took the time to do as much weatherproofing as possible to keep our home energy efficient. After all, you could possess the best furnace in the world, but if that warm air is escaping through cracks in your windows and doorways and other places, you’re not getting the benefit of it at all. That’s why weatherproofing was and is so important. Yes, even today, I take after my parents and I make sure that my furnace is taken care of and my home is properly weather-proofed so that I never have to worry about the cold that winter brings.
