This is to let you take time in adjusting the thermostat to the coldest setting
Air conditioners should be well-maintained and cleaned to make them work efficiently and last longer. Aside from the routine HVAC tune-up and ductwork cleaning from your chosen HVAC maintenance team, you as its owner should also take care of your HVAC equipment. The following are simple tips in cleaning your air conditioner that you can easily do regularly. These ways are to ensure the health and longevity of your HVAC equipment. Take time to unplug the air conditioner. Disconnecting it from its power source will let it cool down and recover from long hours of being used. Just think that your air conditioner system needs to rest, too. When needed, remove the filter and bezel or cover of the unit to expose the cooling coils. To remove the cover, sometimes you have to deal with the screws first. There is some HVAC equipment where you can easily find the screws, some are not easily found. Clean the dust and other molds by spraying the front coil of the air conditioner with a cleaning agent, specifically designed for air conditioner cleaning purposes. You can find these cleaning substances in-home supply centers and hardware stores. These cleaners are designed to help remove odors, dirt, mold, mildew, and cigar smell deposits in the room. While cleaning this area of your HVAC system, just make sure you are spraying the coils, and not the electric wires, or control parts of the air conditioning system. Cleaning the AC filter should be done routinely, too. Clean the air filter with plain water. Or, there might come such a time when you have to replace the air conditioning filter with a new one. Removing it from the air conditioner is very easy to do. As a rule, the AC filter should be cleaned every 15 hours or depending on its exposure to dust in the space. You can also wash or soak the air conditioning filter if you suspect that it has become the source of foul odor in the room. When done washing the AC filters and cover, you may want to air dry them or replace them completely. Put these parts again in their designated places in the air conditioner system. Then, restore power after about 10-15 minutes. Run the HVAC system and set the unit to Cool. This is to let you take time in adjusting the thermostat to the coldest setting. Doing this will allow warm, humid air to condense and pass over the cold coils. Condensate air in the air conditioning system will rinse the dirt and foam from the coils.
