In my home, I have this old boiler system that works extremely well. I love all the radiators that are hooked up around the house, and the heating is just wonderful. The sad part is that I also had this old cooling system that ended up breaking down. I wasn’t sure if I should upgrade to a central heating and cooling system or if I should just replace the old cooling system since the boiler system was working fine. I had an HVAC professional come out and he told me that the boiler was built to last. He said his parents still use a similar boiler that has lasted 50 years and is still running strong. It’s hard for me to believe but I guess I’ll take his word for it. He started telling me about the ductless mini split air conditioner which would be perfect for my cooling needs. He gave me a quote for the installation and I was surprised at how cheap it was. I had proposed an HVAC system at the last house I lived at and it was way more expensive. Of course this was just an A/C system, not a combination of heating and cooling. But, the guy told me that this system was able to be upgraded so that it did provide heating as well in the winter. He said the upgrade process was relatively easy and the heating system would provide heating down to negative 5 degrees if I was interested in that. It sounded pretty cool, but in the meantime I was planning to use my boiler system. When everything was installed, I was very impressed with my new cooling system.
