We didn’t really want a heat pump or an oil furnace, since we had to deal with both of those things before replacing the HVAC system in our old house
Because my husband got transferred with his job this year, we ended up having to do something that I never thought we’d have to do! We had to buy a house, sight unseen, all the way across the country from our old house. It was the craziest thing we’ve ever done. We did a little bit of research on houses in the area, of course, but the main thing we were interested in finding out about was the HVAC system in all of the prospective houses. See, we had just put in a brand new, state of the art heating and cooling system in our old house and we wanted to keep the same great indoor air quality when we moved. We knew that a lot of places in the area where we were moving didn’t have new HVAC systems because the neighborhoods were older. That meant that the HVAC systems were probably older, too. We really wanted a high efficiency A/C system and a high efficiency heating system, though. We didn’t really want a heat pump or an oil furnace, since we had to deal with both of those things before replacing the HVAC system in our old house. We ended up having our realtor sort through the house for us and filter out the ones without newer heating and cooling systems. After that, finding a place that looked good to us was just a little bit easier, even though we were still looking for a place without seeing it in person! We ended up with a house with a great HVAC unit, though.
