I wasn’t too happy when my son decided he wanted to wait to go to college.
His excuse was that he didn’t know what he wanted to do and he didn’t want to be in debt doing something he regretted. I couldn’t really argue with him, it was his life, but I wanted him to be doing something instead of playing video games in our house all the time. We had to start asking him to pay rent if he wasn’t going to college. I told him to afford the rent, he had to find work. He ended up looking online for different gigs, reluctantly. I was happy when he told me he finally found somebody who wanted to hire him to help. He was going to be an assistant to an HVAC professional. He would make so much money and he would just move heavy things around and fetch the tools the HVAC professional required. I thought it was a great thing and thought that maybe he would become interested in becoming an HVAC professional himself. He learned all kinds of amazing things about repair work with HVAC systems and proper maintenance. He even started telling us about different energy saving tips like using LED light bulbs in your home. Not only do those bulbs consume much less energy, but they don’t produce much heat so your A/C system doesn’t have to work harder against that type of heating. Eventually he said he wanted to go to an HVAC trade school, and we definitely have his back all the way!
