My best friend recently moved into a new apartment.
AFter she was totally moved in, she invited a bunch of us over to see the new apartments.
She wanted to show us some of the oddities about the place and let us see how nice it was. She said there was this crazy thing that the owners had done with the central HVAC system. She couldn’t even describe it and she only said that we would need to see it to believe it. I couldn’t figure out what could be so unusual about an HVAC system. When we all showed up, it didn’t take long to realize exactly what she was talking about. She showed us the HVAC system and it had been installed in the garage. Now, if you are talking about proximity to the apartment, it was a reasonable place for it to be installed. I have only ever seen air conditioning units on the outside of the house and normally a furnace would be in the basement, or in a closet of an apartment. To see the HVAC system in the garage, really was a bit bizarre. If you wanted to change the air filter, you don’t need to go into the garage. They had arranged it so you could go into the hall by the laundry room and open a door to change the air filter. I had to laugh because there really were some oddities about this apartment, but I liked it. We had a couple of good laughs about whether the HVAC technician had been drunk when he put in the ductwork or if they just wanted to make a statement. Either way, the HVAC in the apartment is still wonderful.
