Broken ductwork system compromises indoor air quality

I was the first person to notice the bad indoor air quality in our house.

  • My husband is relatively clueless most of the time, but he gets up in the morning and has the same toast, more than one egg, plus grapefruit juice that he has eaten for the last 34 years of our marriage.

I mentioned the indoor air concerns but my hubby thought it was just an unusually humid morning! The temperature reading was 75 degrees, even though the A/C thermostat was set to 69 degrees. I knew there was a problem plus now my husband was going to need to listen to me. After presenting my evidence, my husband agreed it was time to call the A/C service service, however both of us were disappointed, our A/C device was only a fews years old & had never shown any concerns in the past. Both of us had a full service tune up plus evaluation performed on Sunday. My husband & I found out that the air duct was the problem and not the A/C unit. It turns out that the air duct above the living room had a lot of holes and a lot of air was escaping through those holes instead of entering the kitchen. The A/C service professional made some suggestions to help separate from a problem. I was relieved that the A/C device didn’t need to be replaced. The air duct problems needed to be addressed instantly. The professional spent most of the afternoon at our current home repairing all of the problematic areas inside of the air duct. I hope that the changes will yield relaxing results.
