I hate having to do house calls on holidays

I really hate having to do house calls on holidays, but when you’re an HVAC technician, sometimes you have to.

It’s just one of those things that comes along with the job, even though it’s not something that most people enjoy.

Of course, most people want to spend time with their friends and families on holidays and holiday weekends, and I am no different than them. The only problem for me is the fact that when I first started working as an HVAC technician, I didn’t have a family. Now, though, I have a wife and two stepkids. So in other words, things have really changed for me since I started out in the heating and cooling profession. At this point, I would be really happy if I could just work regular hours instead of having to be on call for things like heating and cooling emergencies. Doing it once in a while wouldn’t be all that bad, but I feel like my boss schedules me to work nearly every holiday that comes up. I guess I am going to have to talk to him about resetting my schedule or making it rotate or something like that. I personally don’t think that people should be calling us for air conditioning repair calls on the fourth of July, but it happens every single year. I guess charging for emergency HVAC repair calls is where the company makes most of their money, though. I understand why they offer this service. It’s just annoying. I enjoy being an HVAC technician, but house calls on holidays are my least favorite part of the job.
