My wife had a baby last month.
We finally had a little girl, after three boys.
Now that we have a girl, we are going to stop trying to have more babies. Our three boys are 7, 8, and 10. It’s been a very long time since my wife and I have had diaper duty and sleepless nights. We have not had to buy diapers in a long time. I forgot how terribly expensive they can be. Sleeping has been a huge problem since the baby came home. She hasn’t been sleeping through the night and my wife and I are up constantly. We take turns getting up with the baby. I think she might have colic. It has been especially hard for me, because I still have to work full time during the day. My wife is not working so she can stay home with our daughter. Someone has to earn a living and that person is me. My boss has been really great through the whole process. He gave me two weeks of paid time off when my daughter was born. I also had two weeks of vacation saved up. I only went back to work at the HVAC company last week. A lot of HVAC customers were asking about me. It was time to get back to work, and I was getting bored sitting at home. It’s hard to concentrate on HVAC tasks when I only have a few hours of sleep each night. Yesterday, I took a nap at lunchtime and didn’t wake up until almost three. That cannot happen every day or I will get fired. I certainly hope that our daughter will start sleeping through the night soon.
