I have a tremendous amount of respect for those folks who are considered a jack of all trades.
These folks do so much for people like me who aren’t terribly handy and have no spare time to fix things around the house.
I’d much rather come home and put my feet up in HVAC comfort. In most cases, our handy man does a better job than a service company that I would pay twice as much. Our guy seems to know something about just every single thing in our home. We had him out the first time to build some shelves in the master closet. He was great and the project turned out perfect. And, the price was exceptional. The man was such a hit that we had him so several other projects around our home. So, when the HVAC system went down, we naturally phoned him up to come have a look. However, he was quick to shoot that idea down. To his credit, he absolutely knows the limits of his expertise and would never do something to jeopardize an expensive piece of equipment. He immediately said that only a qualified heating and cooling professional should be anywhere near our HVAC unit. I took this advice to heart and called the HVAC company in town. They sent out a certified and licensed technician to perform the repair. I took the opportunity to watch as he was servicing the HVAC unit. Wow, was I impressed with everything he knew and was able to explain in a way I could understand it. I’m very glad I had to see why only HVAC professionals should service the HVAC system.
