No Good at Home Maintenance

Neither me nor my husband had changed the filter since I started running it in February

My husband travels a lot, which leaves a lot of the home maintenance to me. I’m not very good at it. For about six months, I had problems with my air conditioning, and it continued to get worse. I didn’t really recognize it as a problem with the air conditioning, at first. My electricity bills kept going up and the house wasn’t staying as cool as it should be. I blamed the kids for leaving doors and windows open and it wasn’t even them. You see, we live in a subtropical climate and we run the a/c about nine months out of the year. When I turned the a/c on in late February, it seemed to be working fine. But, as the temperatures reached the nineties in May, the a/c wasn’t working very well. Even my husband made a comment about being a little warm and I blamed the kids for leaving doors open and I just turned a couple of fans on. Well, the house stayed warm and the electric bills went up and I was still blaming the kids when the a/c just quit one day. It was the middle of summer and I called an HVAC technician in right away. It was such a simple fix that I was embarrassed. It turns out, the a/c turned itself off to protect itself. Neither me nor my husband had changed the filter since I started running it in February. I didn’t think of it and I guess I assumed my husband changed the filter and since he travels all the time, he assumed that I changed the a/c filter. I’m terrible at home maintenance and was grateful that it was such an easy fix.
