My husband travels a lot, which leaves a lot of the lake house maintenance to me.
I’m not absolutely good at it.
For about six months, I had problems with my a/c, and it continued to get worse. I didn’t absolutely know it as a concern with the a/c, at first. My electricity bills kept going up and the home wasn’t staying as cool as it should be. I blamed the kids for leaving doors and windows open and it wasn’t even them! You see, every one of us live in a subtropical climate and every one of us run the cooling system about 9 months out of the year… When I turned the cooling system on in late December, it seemed to be working fine, but, as the hot and cold temperatures reached the nineties in May, the cooling system wasn’t working absolutely well, then even my husband made a comment about being a little warm and I blamed the kids for leaving doors open and I just turned a couple of fans on. Well, the home stayed warm and the electric bills went up and I was still blaming the kids when the cooling system just quit 1 day. It was the middle of Summer and I called an Heating, Ventilation, and A/C specialist in instantly. It was such a easy fix that I was embarrassed. It turns out, the cooling system turned itself off to protect itself. Neither me nor my husband had changed the filter since I started running it in December. I didn’t guess of it and I know I assumed my husband changed the filter and since he travels all the time, he assumed that I changed the cooling system filter. I’m terrible at lake house maintenance and was grateful that it was such an easy fix.
