What are your thoughts on washable filters?

I am looking for some even-handed opinions about something.

Let myself and others just beginning off by saying I have been seriously worried about the coronavirus outbreak.

I have an elderly mother who lives with us and my youngest child has asthma. Needless to say, I take indoor air quality truly seriously. Both of us have air cleaners all around the house, the two of us have an HVAC maintenance contract in which there is a guarantee to have our air duct cleaned every 3 months, and the two of us use HEPA air filters instead of MERV air filters. Well, now that this pandemic has been thrust upon us, the stores are selling out of HEPA filters because everyone is buying them up in a large panic. The thing is, my family easily needs the HEPA filters. I’m not saying that other families don’t need them, however I am saying that my family has been buying and using HEPA air filters since years before this pandemic. I started looking online and saw that there is a HEPA grade air filter that is washable. I have literally never heard of a washable air filter before and I am wondering if anyone has ever used 1? Specifically, a HEPA washable air filter? I believe that the washable air filters don’t labor as well however I have seen mixed reviews online; some say they’re better, some say they’re worse. If anyone has any personal testimony about using HEPA washable air filters, I would easily care about your insight. I’m thinking of using the HEPA washable air filters as a way to tide us over until this pandemic has ended, however I don’t want this to come at the cost of my family’s indoor air quality. Please advise!
