It was kind of cute when we realized that our daughter developed a crush on her swimming teacher.
She would go to the thermostat and crank up the air conditioning system while getting ready in the bathroom.
She would be in there for a long time trying to make herself look cute before she went for her swimming lessons. Even when we were driving her to the pool, she would crank up the air conditioning system. She said she didn’t want to be all sweaty and smell bad. I thought it didn’t really matter because she was going to be in the pool anyway, but she thought she had to look great for the swimming instructor. I mean, it was obvious that there could never be any sort of relationship, it would be entirely inappropriate as our daughter was only 17 and the swimming instructor must have been at least 25. Eventually, she said she didn’t want to go to her swimming lessons anymore. The thing is, we paid good money for her swimming lessons and we wanted her to finish the swimming lessons. She didn’t even bother to crank up the A/C and she didn’t try to make herself look pretty anymore. Finally I asked what was going on and then she started up about the “ugly” girlfriend the swimming teacher had and that he should be with someone better than that. I sighed and as I was about to drop her off, she shrieked and exclaimed, “How could you let me forget to turn up the A/C!?” She was sweating a lot and she thought she smelled bad. I thought she didn’t care, but apparently she still had her crush on the teacher.
