Working in IT is pretty interesting. I’m surprised at all of the people don’t understand the basics of computers, most of these large companies should entirely have a full-time IT person… Instead, they just hire me to come in as well as repair things once it’s already crashing as well as burning. I mean that literally, then this one supplier called me in recently because their computers keep going down. I took one look at their computer tower as well as knew the reason why mediately. They have their air conditioner set up wrong for the computer tower; You’re supposed to have it set up so that the chilly air goes into the front of the tower as well as the intake vent (for the A/C) is at the back of the tower. This keeps the air flowing in the regular orientation to cool down the computers. Instead, this supplier had the air conditioner blowing on to the side of one layer of towers. Additionally, they didn’t have a temperature control for the computer room. The computer room had the same temperature as the rest of the building as well as was set at about 73 degrees, but needless to say, the two of us had to make a lot of adjustments to get their computers working officially. The people I was with and I started by getting zone control installed into the entire building so that the computer room can be kept at about 60 degrees. The people I was with and I also oriented the computer towers differently so that all of the computers are now getting chilly air flow on the regular side while the boiling air is being taken out of the opposite side. They shouldn’t have any more concerns at that supplier with computers overheating, then but was that big of a computer tower, they entirely do need a full-time IT person
