Last month, I was preparing to go on a trip to visit my daughter, Susan.
I was looking at a sixteen hour drive south and hoping to accomplish the whole distance in one day. I had the car serviced and filled with gas, so I was ready to start my trip. My husband mentioned that he wanted to double check the coolant before I left to ensure the car wouldn’t overheat. I wish one of us had thought to check the operation of the air conditioner. It was only forty degrees when I left home, and I wasn’t worried about the air conditioner. We were still running the furnace at my home. As I drove, the outside temperature gradually climbed higher. After a few hours, I opened the windows for some fresh air. Then the outside air became so hot that I decided to start the air conditioner. Unfortunately, nothing but warm air poured from the vents. I left it running for awhile, thinking that the air conditioner would eventually provide some cool air. It never did, and I was sweating profusely. I didn’t want to interrupt my drive by stopping at an auto shop. I simply suffered without air conditioning and rushed to reach my destination. It was a huge relief to arrive at my daughter’s home. Her house was so nice and cool, and she poured me a big glass of homemade lemonade. I made sure to schedule a repair with a local auto mechanic right away. I was not willing to make the drive back home without a properly working air conditioner in the car.
