My father gave me some energy saving tips when I moved out on my own

When I moved out on my own for the first time, I thought I would be just fine.

Of course, I realized real fast how much I didn’t know about living on my own.

It used to be my parents that took care of everything and they made everything seem so easy. I thought just getting an apartment of my own was expensive enough, but when I saw my energy bills, I just about had a heart attack. I called up my father and asked him what I could do to save money. He told me I was going to need some energy saving tips and he said he knew a lot about energy saving help. He started by telling me that I needed to invest in LED bulbs which would cut my costs down a good amount. He also carried on about electronics in the house. He said that I needed to keep the electronics turned off unless I was actually using them. He pointed out that I always had a problem with this and he always had to remind me to turn off my computer, printer, and TV. I still had this problem I had to admit, but I started making sure everything was shut off. I actually set the power options on my computer to shut off automatically when it was not in use for 10 minutes. The last energy saving tip he told me was something very challenging. He said that in the summer I should set the thermostat to 78 and 68 in the winter. He explained that each degree could save me as much as 5 percent on my energy bills. Well, that was motivation. I did all these energy tips, and used ceiling fans to keep cool in the warm season, and it worked out. My energy bills were much lower thanks to the energy saving tips I got from my father.
