I think that one of the best and most innovative heating systems on the current market is radiant flooring. The equipment is entirely concealed beneath the floor. It takes up no living space and doesn’t create any type of eyesore. I don’t need to arrange my furniture to accommodate vents. We have a boiler installed in the basement and a series of pipes looping under the floors that carry heated water. The heat spreads evenly across the surface of the floor and warms up everything that sits on it. These warm objects further radiate heat to create a very consistent wall to wall and floor to ceiling temperature. There are no cold pockets or drafts. Because of this, heated floors allow lower thermostat settings than most other types of heating system. It also caters to zoned control. We have a thermostat in each room that can be independently adjusted to preference, room requirements and occupancy. The heated floors operate silently and don’t introduce any contaminants, such as dust, dander or other harmful toxins into the air. As a hydronic heating system, it provides an especially entle form of comfort and doesn’t cause concerns with insufficient humidity. There are very few things as luxurious as getting out of bed or the shower and stepping onto a heated floor. It feels just wonderful to walk across a warm surface with bare feet. Radiant heated floors keep our monthly costs low, require no maintenance and handle the most severe weather. Even when the outdoor temperature drops down into the negative digits, we’re totally warm and cozy.
