My son wanted the dog to sleep in his room

I grew up on a farm surrounded by lots of different animals.

  • The farm had chickens, cows, sheep, and turtles in the pond.

I had a couple of dogs, but they lived outside. My dad built a house from old plywood and two-by-fours. Even when it was extremely cold and icy outside, the dogs still slept outdoors in the wooden house. I remember complaining that it was too cold, but my parents assured me that the dogs had fur for the winter season. After my husband and I got married, we moved to a farm of our own. We quickly had four children in five years, due to a very surprising set of twins. I only have one boy and he is the youngest child. The girls think that I spoil my son, but I hardly think that could be true. Last weekend we had a very cold night and the temperature was only seven degrees. My son begged me to let the dog sleep in his room because it was so cold outside. The dog hasn’t left the bedroom in a week. My son takes the dog for walks and outside to use the bathroom, but the furry creature is perfectly happy to sit on the rug in front of the space heater in my son’s bedroom. The dog curls up next to the space heater and sleeps for hours. At night, he sleeps next to our son, but during the day, the dog is always in front of the heater. My husband and I were planning to make the dog go back outside after the cold snap was over, but it’s hard to say no to Kyle.
