On Monday mornings, I am in charge of opening the restaurant.
I have been working at the restaurant for two years.
Monday mornings are always busy, because we have a lot of prep work to complete. We have to cut 50 lb of onions, potatoes, green peppers, and jalapenos. We have to slice tomatoes, cucumbers, and make salad. I had a long list of prep work to complete on Monday morning, so I was very upset when I arrived at work and the indoor air was warm and stagnant. It didn’t feel like the air conditioner had been running at all throughout the night. I checked the temperature on the thermostat and it was registering 78 degrees. I quickly realized that the button was switched from cool to off. Someone turned the air conditioner off on purpose or by accident. As soon as I turned on the thermostat and pushed the button to cool, the air conditioner came on and cool air started blowing out of the vents. I’m not sure which one of the night shift guys made the mistake, but it was terribly uncomfortable in the morning when I arrived at work. Thank goodness it only took a couple of hours for the kitchen to cool off. By the time customers started to arrive for lunch, the kitchen was much more comfortable. I was worried that we might have to call a repair service and that could have taken all day. We don’t have a commercial HVAC provider on retainer, so we often get stuck waiting for service.
