I really thought it was going to be less expensive to be able to work from home. I was going to be making the same amount of money, but I wouldn’t be spending as much. I had no travel expenses. I didn’t need an extensive business wardrobe and I wouldn’t have to pay for business luncheons. I was thrilled to be able to work from home. I liked being able to work in my pajamas and even if I had to have a meeting, I could put on a nice blouse and still be in my pajama pants. No one would know because I was on a computer. It wasn’t until I got my first energy bill that reflected a full month of being at home, that I realized my energy bill had risen. I couldn’t believe that my HVAC usage had gone up that much. I called the HVAC company and I told them about the energy bill. I was surprised when he told me that when you don’t have Zone Control and you are using the HVAC systems an additional ten hours a day, it was common to see an energy spike. You couldn’t get all of that extra heating and air conditioning without having some repercussions. They suggested I have Zone Control installed into my home. With Zone Control, I would only be running the HVAC in the rooms that I was using. I wouldn’t be heating or cooling the entire home. The cost of Zone Control was small when compared to how much my energy bill was going up.
