Hurricanes have been happening all the time down here & during the summertime, my family & I have to be prepared. When storms are off the coast, we begin to prepare for hurricane season. One way we prepare is to get flashlights, extra batteries, sandbags, & extra sheets of plywood. All of us try not to wait until there is an actual storm to invest in the products that we need. When there is a storm, it’s pretty hard to get the things that you need because most people are shopping at the same time! Last summertime we had a type 3 hurricane straight off the coast, but it hit north of us by 50 miles. My family & I still felt the overall brunt of the storm winds. It rained all day & the roads were flooded! The ground was soft, squishy, & muddy. During the hurricane, our roof started leaking. I didn’t even know for sure if a tree had fallen on the roof or not, because we could not go outside to assess any destruction while it was storming so heavily. When the storm was over, my fiance & I got up on the roof to check out the disfigurement. All of us immediately started looking for a roofing contractor. A good amount of the cheaper roofing contractors were already busy. I found a contractor that has nice prices & great service. Two nights after the hurricane, the residential roofing contractor owner came to the residence to look at the overall damages & give us an estimate. All of us had to pay for half of the roofing repairs up front & we had to pay the other half of the fees after the job was completed.
