I used to be very gung ho about this job, but time has really worn me down.
It’s not even the time, to be honest, but the lack of appreciation from my bosses.
I’ve been here a long time, there have been no promotions, no raises, no bonuses, and I am starting to get pretty tired of it. It has killed my desire to work hard, because regardless of how hard I work I get the same money at the end of the week, what’s the motivation to put in extra effort? The bosses are so cheap, they won’t even pay to have the air conditioning in the IT department fixed. Having so many computers and servers running in one place generates a lot of heating, so the AC needs to be double strong just to keep things normal. The lack of proper cooling only serves to kill my enthusiasm for working here all the more, so I have been playing a lot of Candy Crush lately. I managed to hack my bosses password to the smart thermostat (he actually has it password protected so no one else can adjust it). It is a zone control HVAC system, so I was able to turn off the cooling for the bosses offices and focus all of it in the IT department. That was a glorious half a day, before the boss reset the thermostat password and locked me out of it. If he refuses to fix the A/C I will just focus all my work hours on getting that new password.
