My sister called me and asked if I could look at her air conditioning unit for her.
She knew I wasn’t an HVAC technician, but I worked on my own HVAC equipment.
When I looked at the air conditioning unit, I knew the fan motor wasn’t working and she asked if I knew how to repair the fan motor. I told her I could do it, but once again let her know I wasn’t an HVAC technician. She didn’t seem to mind. I called the local home center and gave them the numbers on the fan motor and asked if the had one and the fan blades to go with it. He said they had them in stock and asked if I wanted them to bring them up to the counter for me. I gave my sister the price and she said to buy it. When we got to the home center, she paid for the parts and we back to her house. On our way back, she looked and me asked if I was sure I knew how to repair air conditioning units. I told her I repaired my air conditioning unit. If I was worried, I would call the HVAC company for her. She shook her head no, and we got back to the house. It didn’t less than an hour before the new fan motor and blades were in place. I told her she still needed to have the ductwork cleaned, which I couldn’t do, but the air conditioning unit would work. I hoped she called to have the ductwork cleaned soon, because I could see a lot of dust and dirt inside.
