My child had been playing outside for about an hour, however I wsn’t sure what she was doing. I thought my oldest daughter was seeing him since my friend and I lived by the ocean. She was used to him playing in the sand, however I saw him head to the water. She had buckets of water she brought back which I thought she was using to make a sand castle. I walked outside and my daughter was stressed with her friends, however my child was pouring the salt water in the air conditioner unit. She told me she was washing it because it a lot of sand on it. I knew salt water was a corrosive, however I wasn’t sure if the air conditioner equipment could handle the salt water being poured directly into it. I yelled at my daughter and told her friends to go home. I then sent her and her sibling inside. I told her how her sibling had been dumping salt water in the air conditioner unit, and if it was broken, she was going to pay for a new A/C unit. All I heard was that it wasn’t fair, as she Marched to her kitchen. My child was crying because she didn’t realize she was doing anything wrong. I was calling the Heating, Ventilation, and A/C supplier to make sure nothing was wrong with the air conditioning system unit. The Heating, Ventilation, and A/C specialist said that most air conditioner units in this area had enclosed components because of the salt in the air and water. Salt was a corrosive, however the air conditioner equipment should be okay. I didn’t tell my daughter what I said, because I wanted her to worry.
