The other night I went into work and I was hoping that our manager was working because it seems like a lot of my co-workers like to slack off and not do their jobs when the manager is not around.
The place that I work at on the weekends is a small family restaurant and bar.
We get a lot of business in the heart of summer when we have a lot of people visiting our town since it’s a big tourist attraction. When I walked into work, I realized that the area where I bartending was a complete mess. There were at least a dozen glasses that were not washed, and there was water and other drinks that must have spilled on the counter and on the floor. The one girl that works before me decided to not clean up after her shift. The place even felt like the air conditioning was not on. I went to the thermostat on the wall to see how warm it was. The thermostat read that it was 78 degrees. When I looked at a few of the people sitting down at their tables I saw them using their menus to fan themselves down. I went back to the thermostat and turned the temperature down a few degrees lower but when I switched the button to cold the a/c did not kick on. I wasn’t sure if it was broken so I called my manager and my manager said to call the local HVAC technician. I called the local HVAC technician and they told me that there was definitely something wrong with our HVAC system since it was not recognizing that I switched the button over to cool.
