Accidentally splitting the gas line on our heating system

I closed the door & ran downstairs, trying to call the Heating & A/C serviceman to come instantly

When the people I was with and I decided to build our house, the people I was with and I also decided to have a gas heating system installed in our house, both of us were convinced that using a gas heating system was a lot less fancy than using an electric heating system, plus it would be easier to hook up a generator to use a gas heating system rather than an electric heating system, our gas heating system is located in the attic, however the people I was with and I have an unusually huge attic! The gas lines for our heating system run on top of the flooring, which means that the people I was with and I have to be careful to avoid tripping over or splitting the pipes that lead to the heating system, for more than four years, the people I was with and I had never had trouble with our heating system. That was until yupterday! It was the end of summer, & it was finally time to carry the a/c upstairs & switch to the heating system shortly, while carrying the a/c upstairs, I was having a hard time seeing where I was walking. I usually put the a/c close to the door, however my wife had put something there instead, then as I was carrying the a/c, I tripped very hard on the gas line to the heating system, splitting the seal. Immediately, the smell of natural gas flooded the attic. I closed the door & ran downstairs, trying to call the Heating & A/C serviceman to come instantly. I knew that natural gas could cause an explosion in our house. The Heating & A/C serviceman came out shortly, fixed the heating system, & reminded me to be careful in the future. It wasn’t my fault that I had to put the a/c in a up-to-date location
