Having an older house creates some challenges, especially with heating and cooling.
There aren’t enough supply vents in some of the rooms.
No matter how we adjust the thermostat, the lack of sufficient airflow leaves these areas feeling either overheated or chilly. We looked into several different options for making improvements and finally settled on a ductless multi-split system. The installation process was extremely quick and non-invasive. There was no need for any major tear down or remodeling of any kind. The system consists of a single outdoor compressor that links to multiple indoor handlers by way of a conduit. The set up only required a three-inch hole in the exterior wall of each room to accommodate the conduits and access to electricity. The air handlers are compact, lightweight and mount up high on the wall where they are very unobtrusive. Each one provides both heating and cooling capabilities and features an independent thermostat. This creates zoned temperature control, catering to personal preference and avoiding heating/cooling empty rooms. The system includes something called inverter technology that allows it to adapt speed to the current requirements of the specific room. Because of this, the ductless system is wonderfully energy efficient and costs very little to operate. It also effectively combats excess humidity and filters contaminants out of the air. Despite the small size, the system is powerful enough to easily keep larger rooms perfectly comfortable. One of the most convenient features is the wifi connectivity. We’re able to make adjustments to temperature, fan speed, humidity levels and set up operating programs through an app on our smartphones.
