DIY air conditioning service goes wrong

I know your air conditioning system should be cleaned out and serviced at least once a year.

I consider myself a bit of a handyman so I decided I should just service my air conditioner myself.

After watching several videos, I got the right oil and then I got to work with my tools. I started vacuuming and oiling all of the components. I was careful about it and I took my time. However, when I put my air conditioning system back together, it would not turn on again. I took it apart once more and looked through everything but could not figure out the problem. Finally, I knew I would have to call out the professional air conditioning technicians. This was not something I could fix myself. A technician from a real air conditioning company came out the following day. The technician looked over my air conditioning system and turned a switch on. He said that was the only issue with it. Apparently, I had simply turned my air conditioning system off. I must have bumped the switch when I was moving things around and cleaning. I felt really stupid. However, I felt a bit better when the air conditioning technician told me that I did a really good job servicing and cleaning my air conditioning system. He added that his air conditioning company really doesn’t charge very much for this type of service though. If I ever decide not to do it myself, they would be more than happy to come out and help me out. I thanked him but I’m really looking forward to cleaning my air conditioner again next year. Maybe I can do it all by myself next time.
