Friend buying their first household & debating whether to get central A/C

I am getting to the age where a lot of my friends are buying houses.

Most of my friends live in their own apartments or their own homes but I still live with my parents.

I am trying to save up a great amount of money & pay off as much of my student loans as I can so I can live in a household that I want to live in & not have to worry about scrambling for money because I still need to pay for my student loans. I have about a year-and-a-half until I am done paying my student loans, however one of my best friends just bought their first house. I thought that my neighbor jumped the gun on buying this household simply because the location was really convenient to where he worked. His household is harshly small & pretty old. I thought that the household was going to come with a lot of features, but it did not. The household does not have central A/C. When I went to help my neighbor unpack & transport in, it was in the middle of Summer & my good friend and I were covered in sweat. She was asking whether or not he should install central A/C by the time everything was moved in. I told his that to save money he really does not have to install central A/C. It’s just going to cost his a few grand & since his household is so small he could install small window A/C units. Since his household is so small, installing window A/C units was not only going to save his money but it would cool his household really rapidly.
