Each year about this time, I’m snapped back to the reality that we do indeed live in a subtropical region.
I know this should be something that I’m always aware of. But the fact that we enjoy such an incredible Winter, makes me sort of get lost a bit and forget about a/c for a while. But then again, the winter time is the only time that you don’t have to consider a/c around here. The heat pump basically takes the winter time off. And I basically try to spend as much time outside soaking up all the gorgeous weather. But then, we hit this time of year and it’s time to get back to all that cooling consideration. It’s not a trill however it’s also not something that in an unofficial mindset either, however each year, I have regularly done the basics when it comes to trying to ease the cost of the heat pump cooling the house. I get the a/c tune up each Spring. And then, I spend a weekend or two replacing worn weather stripping, sealing up gaps on the exterior and generally tightening up the house, having a slender seal on the condo is essential when it comes to any a/c strategy. But along with stopping direct sunlight heating and programming the digital control unit, I like to add another level to the strategy each year. This year, I’m truly going for it and my fiance thinks I’m nuts. I have committed to doing all the cooking this Summer outside. The grill is good and it’s right on the deck off the home office. This way, I don’t heat up the condo by using the stove or the oven. I feel this will save a big chunk on a/c costs.
