When I moved into my first home, I was just so happy to be a homeowner.
After all those years of renting, it was so nice to think that I was honestly building some equity and owned where I lived.
However, this also came with a bit of a reading curve as well. There was a lot to learn. When the stuff like the heating & A/C unit needed service, it was up to me. And I made sure that this was one of the things that I addressed right away. I had the heating & A/C professional come out to do the heating service early so I knew that the gas oil furnace would be in enjoyable shape for the winter. And that was a wonderful thing. I particularly didn’t want to have a heating & A/C heating breakdown in the middle of my first Winter time in my own home. Still, I was sort of shocked at the heating bills that first winter. The heating & A/C unit was only 4 years old and was in enjoyable shape. What’s more, I had the heating & A/C specialist do all the heating service. But what I didn’t think was that preparing the home for Winter time was just as crucial as preparing the gas oil furnace. So this year, I’m on top of getting the home sealed up slim for the winter. I upgraded a storm door along with all the weather stripping around every entrance. I added insulation to the attic and caulked every gap in the exterior of the home that I could find. This Winter time will be a lot warmer in my home and I won’t have to pay such high heating & A/C heating utility costs either.
