My co-worker and I were assigned to help a residential customer with an AC repair.
When my co-worker and I arrived at the residence, we were greeted by two very nice elderly people. The man and woman were married for 68 years. The man told us that he repaired the machines in the house for 40 years, but gave up when his hands started to shake. My partner and I were really moved by their love story. Neither one of us wanted to break the bad news to the couple when we determined the entire HVAC system needed to be replaced. In fact, my partner and I performed a good old-fashioned game of rock, paper, and scissors. I lost and was the person responsible for breaking the bad news. Both of us were surprised, because the couple didn’t seem to be shocked by the news. When we arrived, we did not know that we were the second person to give the couple an estimate on the repairs. Since my co-worker and I made a good impression on the couple, they decided to use our services to replace the entire HVAC system. I’m sure it was equally helpful that our price was 10% lower than the other company. I didn’t look at the invoice for the new heating and cooling unit, but the guy told me the name of the company and I know how much they charged for those services. The following morning. My partner and I transported the new equipment to the address and spent all day working on the installation job.
