Last summer, we had a tornado go through our area.
I was in the grocery store when the tornado warning sirens started going off.
The people I was with and I could hear the wind whistling through the building & the rain was hitting so hard that we feared the glass was going to break. Two minutes later, the lights went out in the store. I was resting in the middle of an aisle & had an method where I was, however some people simply stood still until the emergency lighting came on. Without lights, there was no AC & I could know the heat coming off other people in the aisle. I could know the call of the freezer section, & I headed toward the cooler air. While waiting for the lights to come back on, I stood near the freezer section. I didn’t have A/C, so I wanted the next sizable thing. Once the emergency lighting came on, they were telling people to tote their grocery & go home. Anyone who had a cart got their groceries for free. Once I got outside, I hurried to put my groceries in the vehicle before it started raining again. I turned on the A/C & sat there for a minute. I wondered if the storm had headed toward my home & if I would have power when I got home. I had several things that needed frozen, & without power or A/C, I wouldn’t be able to keep anything cool. I knew I could shove groceries in the freezer & fridge & they would be safe for twenty-4 hours, even though I was stuck without A/C, & nothing could help that.
