My birthday happened to be Christmas day and I always asked for one thing, but it was major. Last year, my husband asked what I wanted for Christmas, and I told him I wanted a new furnace. I told him I wanted heat in my office, and since we couldn’t install a new furnace, I would settle for a mini split for the office, but he just frowned. He was hoping I would ask for something he could afford, but once again I didn’t consider that when asking for a gift. I was hoping he was just whining to catch me off guard, but the hope was way off. When Christmas arrived, all I had under the tree was a new set of pots and pans. I was disappointed, but I tried not to show it. He apologized and told me he couldn’t afford a new furnace, or a heating system for my office. He did buy me a space heater, but I didn’t like it. The following week, he asked me why I wasn’t working. I told him it was too cold in the office. My fingers got numb trying to type when there was ice on the inside of the windows. He smiled and told me he had a surprise. I followed him back to the office and when he opened the door, there was delicious heat coming out. While I was visiting my mom, he and our son had installed a mini split ductless HVAC system in the office. I now had heating and air conditioning and it wasn’t in the way of my feet.
